Like any classic of childhood, the film is known to be both scary (the subject is the substantive abandonment of the child by the parents, the ultimate fear) and reassuring (the Beautiful finds a substitute family and even love). The memorable scenes abound : the spaghetti by candlelight, the pound, and the chase final... only One regret : the fantastic siamese cats only appear in one scene. Disney will make fifteen years later a quasi-remake with the Aristocats, that one can think of less successful... The DVD is excellent with a very crisp image (the plans for the opening of the little town covered with snow in the Mid West in the dark of the night are exceptional). In short, a must buy for kids big and small.. I can't comment on the quality of the blu ray. I bought this movie for a gift. Nevertheless, this is a superb Disney that marked my childhood.
